Community Emergency Planning & Resilience – Thursday 13th September at 6:30pm

By | 30th August 2018

The Parish Council is well aware that Thurnham and Glasson can be susceptible to flooding—the heavy rain last November, was a particularly
challenging time, but there has been several others. We need to be more resilient and have a clear understanding of the role of the emergency responders and who to contact in any emergency and what we can all do to help! With this in mind we are very pleased that
a meeting has been arranged for Thursday 13th September at Thurnham Memorial Institute commencing at 6:30pm.

The meeting will be facilitated by Lancaster City Council’s Civil and the Environment Agency and we will be joined by at least one parish council with experience of putting together a community emergency plan and using it in practice! Also invited are representative from the Canal & Rivers Trust; Glasson Port Commission and Glasson Grain. We hope that as many residents as possible can join us, with the aim being to hear about the benefits of having a community emergency plan and to establish a small group of people to develop a plan for our parish that provides a single source of information to improve community resilience and provide an effective response in an emergency situation.
